A single-split system pairs one indoor unit with one outdoor unit. It's the most common choice for a main bedroom, a home office or a loft room. The indoor unit is usually wall-mounted high on an internal or external wall, and the refrigerant pipework runs through a single core hole to the outdoor unit.

It's the simplest install and usually the quickest. It's a good starting point if you want to cool one problem room and might add more later.

A multi-split system runs two or more indoor units from one outdoor unit. That means one unit outside instead of several, which is often better for the look of the house and for neighbours. Each room keeps its own controls, so you only cool the rooms you're using.

One customer had units installed in three rooms and commented on how the team assessed the property and recommended the most suitable unit for each room. That room-by-room planning is what a multi-split needs to work well.

Ducted air conditioning hides the indoor unit in a loft, ceiling void or cupboard and delivers air through discreet grilles. It suits renovations, loft conversions and homeowners who don't want visible wall units. Because it needs space for ductwork, it's best planned at the survey stage, ideally before decorating.

Much of the quality of an installation comes down to what you see afterwards. We plan pipework routes to keep runs short and tidy, use trunking where it's needed, and choose outdoor unit positions with airflow, noise and access for servicing in mind, whether that's a wall bracket, ground stand or flat roof.

Parts, materials and additional works are charged separately where applicable, and anything like that is set out in your written quote so there are no surprises.

Most modern split systems can also run in heating mode, which can be a useful way to take the chill off a room in spring and autumn. We'll explain how your chosen system works and show you how to use the controls at handover.

Air-conditioning servicing starts from £150 + VAT and covers cleaning filters and coils and checking the system is performing properly. If something isn't working, AC repairs are £180 + VAT for the first hour, then £75 + VAT per additional half-hour, with parts charged separately where applicable.
